Kenneth G. Block is a Senior Vice President of Block & Company, Inc., Realtors, Director of Institutional Investment and Development, a member of the Board of Directors, member of the Executive Committee, and is a shareholder in the Company.
He entered the real estate business in 1975 after graduating with honors from the Honors College of Michigan State University. He began his real estate career in leasing and sales of industrial properties. This experience led him into investments and development, with his development activities including industrial, office, and business park properties. To date, he has been involved in development of over 170 buildings with a total value in excess of $600 million. Ken has also been heavily involved in the representation of REITs, pension funds advisors, and insurance companies in both acquisition and disposition of real estate properties. Over the last six years, he has been involved in more than $370 million of property sales and dispositions.
Ken is thoroughly knowledgeable in all aspects of real estate brokerage, development, construction, financing, syndication, leasing, and marketing. He has been quoted on numerous occasions in well-known magazines, including The Wall Street Journal, The National Real Estate Investor, Forum, Midwest Real Estate News, Business Facilities, Commercial Property News, Real Estate Today, Corporate Report, Kansas City Business Journal, Kansas City Star, and other publications. He has also been a guest speaker at many prominent real estate symposiums.
He has been involved in numerous real estate organizations, including holding the titles of Secretary, Vice Chairman, and Chairman of the Commercial Investment Branch of the Real Estate Board; Director of the Metropolitan Kansas City Real Estate Board; Director of the Missouri Association of Realtors; President of the Kansas City Chapter of NAIOP; Regional Vice President of NAIOP; Secretary/Treasurer of the Western Missouri-Kansas SIOR Chapter; and others. Ken currently is an active industrial member of SIOR and also an active CCIM.
Ken Block has been involved in numerous civic organizations, including the Kansas City, Missouri, Chamber of Commerce; Kansas City, Kansas Chamber of Commerce; Lenexa Economic Development Council; Lenexa Chamber of Commerce; Leukemia Society; Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; Cancer Society; Groundhog Run, Bacchus Foundation; Crippled Children's Nursery School; Temple B'nai Jehudah, and others.
He has been active in continuing education and has attended numerous educational classes and programs, including seminars sponsored by the National Association of Industrial & Office Parks, Society of Industrial & Office Realtors, Certified Commercial Investment Membership, Metropolitan Kansas City Board of Realtors, and other qualified organizations.
Ken has received many honors in the real estate industry, including Life Membership in the Multi-Million Dollar Award categories for the Missouri Association of Realtors and the Metropolitan Kansas City Board of Realtors. He was previously the Realtor Associate of the Year for Metropolitan Kansas City Board of Realtors, a nominee for Realtor Associate of the Year in the Missouri Association of Realtors, a member in Who's Who in Real Estate in America, was elected as an Outstanding Young Man in America, and other such honors.
He also represents numerous national clients and institutions and is currently the Managing Member of Pine Ridge Business Park, a $125-million, 190-acre, mixed-use business park. He has also been involved as a consultant and/or developer in numerous build-to-suit projects for national companies, including General Electric, IBM, AT&T, Harte-Hanks Communications, Inc., Corporate Express, and many others.
Ken resides in Mission Hills, Kansas, with his wife, Lisa, and their children: Chandler, Andrew, Cameron, and William.
